LOVe is a fish -
dinner and a movie
Saturday, March 1st | 5:30PM - 8:00PM
Join us for a dinner-and-a-movie screening of LOVE IS A FISH, a short film by dear friends of ours, Sonoma’s own Conor Hagen and east-coaster (and honorary Sonoman) Chris Fischer.
Fish is a foundational part of the Japanese diet. Nowhere is that truth more apparent than in Hachijo Jima, an isolated Tokyo island hundreds of miles from mainland Japan.
Largely untouched by the tourism industry, fishing has sustained Hachijo Jima's people for centuries. During this time, laborers have developed a unique and loving relationship to the ocean and its bounties.
Peaceful, precise, and poignant - LOVE IS A FISH bears witness to the often overlooked period between a fish's capture and its consumption. The film is a quiet observation on the process and work involved in bringing fish from the sea to our tables.
The family-style dinner prepared to the theme of the movie is $50 per person (before tax, gratuity + optional beverages). Doors open at 5:30PM with the dinner starting at 6:00PM and screening and a conversation with the director during the meal. Seating will be communal and festive to encourage communication and connection. We hope you can join us.
